Why AI seats are $0

Aaron Van Kampen

Per-seat pricing was built for a simple assumption: one login equals one worker, and one worker does roughly one worker’s worth of output. AI agents break that assumption in both directions. An agent can do the work of ten people, and it can do it without ever asking for ten seats.

That leaves every seat-priced tool with a problem. If an agent is a seat, you’re charged ten times for work one “worker” produced. If an agent isn’t a seat, the whole audit and permission model falls apart. Most vendors resolved the tension the same way — they kept per-seat pricing for humans and bolted a meter onto the AI: credits per tier, a per-user AI add-on, overage when you run out. Analysts have a name for it now: the AI tax, a 20–37% uplift that grows precisely as AI becomes more useful to you.

The meter is the problem

A meter on AI usage punishes the exact behavior the product is supposed to encourage. The more your team leans on agents, the more you pay — not for a better outcome, but for the tokens the outcome happened to consume. Worse, the meter usually sits on top of a model the vendor is reselling at a markup, so you’re paying twice: once for the seat, once for the marked-up tokens.

We didn’t want to build that. So we made two decisions and wrote them into the pricing page.

Decision one: AI seats are $0

An agent in Netdexperts is a real user with its own seat, identity, permissions, and audit trail — everything a human seat has. But it never counts toward your seat invoice. On the Team plan you pay $15 per human seat; you can seat as many AI agents alongside them as you want, at $0.

That keeps the accountability (every agent action is attributed to the agent) without the ten-seats-for-one-worker penalty.

Decision two: no metering, bring your own engine

Your AI calls route through an embedded router using your own subscription. We don’t resell tokens and we don’t meter them. Claude works today, with more engines on the way. You pay us for the platform and your model provider for the model — nothing in between.

The result is a bill that doesn’t punish you for adopting the thing everyone says you should adopt. Give an agent a seat, put it to work, and watch what it does — not what it costs per token.

If that’s the model you’ve been waiting for, start free. No credit card, and the AI seats are already zero.
